Once again, Elon Musk holds the title of world’s richest person.

According to Bloomberg’s calculations, Elon Musk has recaptured the title of richest person in the world.

In December of last year, Bernard Arnault, CEO of the French luxury retailer LVMH (LVMHF), deposed the Tesla CEO from the top rank, placing Musk at No. 2 for more than two months. Yet as of Monday, according to Bloomberg, a surge in Tesla shares has sent Musk back to the top of the Billionaires Index.

According to Bloomberg, as of Monday after the markets closed, Musk’s net worth was around $187.1 billion, just surpassing Arnault’s $185.3 billion fortune.

Tesla (TSLA) stock plunged last year as a result of Musk’s problematic purchase of Twitter and a general collapse in the tech sector, but shares of the electric vehicle manufacturer have since soared in 2023.

Although Musk now has the title of richest man in the world, he also holds the record for the most fortune ever lost by a person in history. Once his net worth decreased from over $340 billion in November 2021 to $137 billion in December 2022, Musk made history by being the first person to ever lose $200 billion in fortune.
