Apple may launch an iMac with an M3 processor as early as the second half of 2023.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Apple is preparing to launch a new 24-inch iMac in the second half of this year. Gurman states in his Power On newsletter that the development of two new iMac models is in its final stages, and Apple has begun manufacturing tests. While volume production of the 2023 iMac is expected to start in about three months, the updated models will come with a few enhancements.

The most notable upgrade is the inclusion of Apple’s next-generation M3 system-on-a-chip in the 2023 iMac. Gurman believes that this new chipset will provide significant improvements in performance and power efficiency, thanks to TSMC’s upcoming 3nm process. Apple has also reportedly redesigned some of the internal components of the iMac. Additionally, the company plans to use a different manufacturing process for attaching the iMac’s stand. However, the new iMac will still feature a 24-inch screen and come in the same bright colors as its 2021 predecessor.

Gurman also mentions that Apple is preparing to release a long-rumored 15-inch variant of the MacBook Air, along with a refresh of the 13-inch model and its first Apple Silicon Mac Pro. These new Macs are expected to arrive between late spring and summer. It is unclear whether the new MacBook Airs will come with M3 chips. However, Gurman speculates that the 13-inch model will at least have Apple’s latest chip, as the company already offers an M2 version of the ultraportable.
