New Emoji
A variety of new emoji, including a shaking face, a heart in three new color possibilities, a donkey, a moose, a jellyfish, and many more, will be included in the iOS 16.4 update. These new emoji were released with Unicode 15.0. Users are excitedly awaiting the release of the new emojis, which Apple just teased with a sneak peak of all of them.
Push Notifications on the Web
Via Safari on the iPhone, the iOS 16.4 update will offer web-based push notifications. Users are now able to receive notifications from webpages on their phones in the same way that they do from App Store apps. The only websites that can ask to deliver push notifications are those that users have saved as web apps on their Home Screen.
Beta Updates Menu
Under the Settings app’s General Software Update section, Apple has included a new “Beta Updates” choice. By eliminating the requirement to install a configuration profile from the Apple Developer website, this menu enables participants in Apple’s Developer Program to access development betas of iOS. The same option allows users to simply enable iOS public betas.
According to Apple, this new option will be the sole way to activate developer betas in subsequent iOS versions, prohibiting configuration profiles from being used and distributed for free online.
App for Podcasts Improvements
A number of new capabilities will be added to CarPlay and the Podcasts app on the iPhone in iOS 16.4. On the iPhone, a list of podcast channels is available in one location through the new Channels option in the Podcasts app.
The Listen Now and Recently Played queues, as well as podcast suggestions in the Browse tab, are also accessible through CarPlay.
Architecture for the new home app
Apple’s updated Home app architecture, which was first introduced with iOS 16.2 but then withdrawn owing to issues, is now back in iOS 16.4. After upgrading to iOS 16.4, an optional upgrade with the new underlying architecture is accessible in the Home app. According to Apple, the new architecture will enhance the app’s functionality, effectiveness, and dependability for managing smart home devices. The new architecture comes after iOS 16.1 added support for Matter attachments to the Home app.
