Cohen claims that Trump urges demonstrations against Manhattan. DA investigation shows support for a “violent confrontation”

In an interview with MSNBC on Saturday, former Trump attorney Michael Cohen expressed his concerns over former President Trump’s recent call for protests against the Manhattan district attorney’s investigation. Cohen stated that Trump’s call for protests was eerily similar to the call he made before the January 6th insurrection and that he believed Trump’s intention was not for a peaceful protest.
Trump had taken to Truth Social to claim that he expected to be arrested next week as part of the investigation into the hush-money payment made to adult film star Stormy Daniels during his 2016 campaign. He called for his supporters to protest and “take our nation back.” Cohen, who testified before the grand jury earlier this week, made a $130,000 payment to Daniels before the 2016 election to keep her quiet about an alleged affair with Trump.
Cohen suggested that Trump or his team were likely contacted by the district attorney’s office and advised accordingly, rather than gaining the information through leaks as Trump suggested. He further suggested that Trump’s calls for protests were likely motivated by a desire to boost his 2024 campaign and to profit from soliciting contributions in order to protect him from the investigation.
Cohen also criticized Trump’s legal team, stating that they were a “clown show of lawyers” who believed that another violent insurrection could propel Trump back into the White House. He noted that Trump’s team likely believed that the protests could also help Trump profit from the situation.
