Now, Pixel owners who have selected Adaptive Charging will be informed when their battery will be at 100%.

Adaptive Charging, a feature that initially appeared on the Pixel 4 and is still present today, is available on Pixel smartphones. With Adaptive Charging enabled, Pixel users will help extend the life of their battery by charging their device continuously overnight to 80% and fully recharging it to 100% right before they wake up. This is done by charging their device between 9 pm and 4 am with a wake-up alarm set between 3-10 am.

Go to Settings > Battery > Adaptive preferences and toggle on Adaptive Charging to configure Adaptive Charging on your Pixel phone. Contrast this with an Adaptive Battery. The latter optimizes the apps on the device by using AI to learn how a Pixel user typically uses his or her phone. This is accomplished by preventing infrequently used apps from wasting energy while operating in the background.

Several Pixel users on Reddit claim (via 9to5Google) that Pixel smartphones are now receiving the Adaptive Charging message that was originally seen while Android 13 was still in the Beta stage last year. “But, I observed last night that there is now a message that begins while Adaptive Charging is engaged, similar to how Bedtime Mode functions, Slinky 317 commented. It appears to appear just when you open your phone, but you have the option to turn it off for that charging session under the notification.”

The notification’s headline reads, “Adaptive Charging is enabled,” and it comes from “Android System.” The notification will let you know when your battery will be completely charged and give you the option to “Switch off once,” which is useful if you need to use your phone faster than you expected to wake up or if you wake up sooner than expected.

Reading over the Reddit comments, it appears that Pixel users would like the ability to set their own charging cap. Some people claim they would prefer charges to be automatically capped at 80%–85% on certain days. The major news right now is that Adaptive Charging alerts are appearing on Pixel phones, while Google may later provide a feature like this for Pixel users.
