The most recent ROG gaming phones from Asus are quicker, cooler, and louder.

Asus has just unveiled its latest gaming-focused smartphones, the ROG Phone 7 and Phone 7 Ultimate, which are now available for pre-order in Europe and Taiwan and are set to ship later this month. Starting at €999 (£999.99) and €1,399 (£1,199.99), respectively, the devices boast Qualcomm’s latest flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and an upgraded GameCool 7 thermal system designed to keep the processor cool and extract maximum performance. The phones’ vapor chamber cooling system dissipates heat up to 168% more efficiently than last year’s ROG Phone 6.

For gamers looking for even more cooling, the Ultimate version of the phone comes with the AeroActive Cooler 7, an active cooling fan accessory that attaches to the phone and has an air inlet allowing cool air to pass directly over the vapor chamber’s cooling fins. According to Asus, this can provide up to 20% more thermal efficiency. The AeroActive Cooler 7 also features a built-in subwoofer that can deliver 77% more bass volume and includes four physical buttons for a more traditional controller experience, a kickstand, RGB lighting, and an additional USB-C port and 3.5mm headphone jack.

In terms of display, both devices feature 6.78-inch OLED displays with a peak brightness of 1,500 nits and a refresh rate of 165Hz. They also have 6,000mAh batteries that can be fast-charged at up to 65W and a trio of rear cameras, including a 50-megapixel main, 13-megapixel ultrawide, and 5-megapixel macro. The Ultimate model also comes with a customizable display on its rear, similar to previous ROG phones like the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate.

While the ROG Phone 7 and Phone 7 Ultimate are primarily gaming-focused devices, they are still typical smartphones in many ways. Both devices are IP54 rated for dust and water resistance and are set to launch in the US at a later date, with no official word yet on pricing or availability.
