Royal Revelation: Denmark’s Monarch, Frederik X, Releases ‘The King’s Word’ Just Three Days into His Reign
Just three days into his reign as the new monarch of Denmark, King Frederik X has unexpectedly unveiled a book that has captured the attention of the nation. Titled “The King’s Word,” the publication delves into Frederik’s perspectives on various subjects, including Denmark’s global standing and his relationship with Queen Mary.
The surprise release has prompted swift reactions from Danes, with media outlets scrambling to live-blog excerpts from the intriguing book. Following his coronation on Sunday, succeeding his mother Margrethe II, the 110-page tome is now available for purchase at 250 Danish Krone (£28.80).
Collaborating with Jens Andersen, the author of Frederik’s 2017 biography, the book is a result of interviews conducted over the past year-and-a-half. In a poignant revelation, King Frederik X reflects on his childhood struggles in accepting his destiny as the future King of Denmark, expressing a desire to simply be like any other boy his age.
Addressing his faith, the King shares a touching detail about his nightly routine with his Australian-born wife—they engage in prayers with their children. The book provides a unique glimpse into the personal and introspective aspects of the new monarch’s life.
King Frederik X’s ascension to the throne, witnessed by tens of thousands outside Christiansborg Castle in Copenhagen, marked a significant moment for Denmark. Emotionally addressing the crowd, the new King expressed his aspirations to be a “unifying king” for the nation’s future. The heartfelt ceremony unfolded after his mother, Margrethe II, abdicated the throne following an impressive 52-year reign.
