Immediate Reversal: Sri Lanka Cricket’s Suspension by ICC Overturned
In November, the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) faced suspension due to government interference. The national cricket board was dismissed by the country’s ministry of sport following the men’s World Cup’s disappointing outcomes. Despite a court reversing the decision, the International Cricket Council (ICC) maintained the sanction.
The ICC, having monitored SLC’s status, now asserts that the organization is no longer in violation of membership regulations. As a consequence of the sanctions, Sri Lanka lost the opportunity to host the Under-19s men’s World Cup, which is currently being held in South Africa.
Having secured only two victories out of nine matches in the 2023 World Cup, Sri Lanka is scheduled to embark on a tour of England this summer.
