The keynote address by Apple for WWDC 2023 will be on June 5.
The business said on Wednesday that it would hold its 34th annual Worldwide Developers Conference at its Cupertino, California, headquarters from Monday, June 5 through Friday, June 9.
The opening session of the conference will be “a spectacular all-day event,” which will include the standard keynote address and the platform State of the Union addresses. According to the phrasing on Apple’s website, some or all of those will be shown in taped video format rather than as a live on-stage presentation, similar to last year
Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is one of the most highly anticipated events in the tech industry. This year’s conference is expected to be no different, as developers await news about the company’s upcoming software updates and potential hardware releases.
Typically, the WWDC keynote serves as a platform for Apple to announce new features and updates coming to its various operating systems. This year, attendees can expect to learn about iOS 17, iPadOS 17, tvOS 17, watchOS 10, and macOS 14. The event is free and available to developers online, with members of Apple’s developer program able to enter a lottery for the chance to attend in person.
While the focus of the conference is usually on software, there have been reports suggesting that Apple may preview its much-anticipated mixed-reality headset and related software. However, it’s unlikely that the headset will be released in June. Instead, developers can expect to receive information about the upcoming platform so that they can begin creating applications, games, and experiences for it.
Aside from the keynote, Apple will likely host various panels on how developers can utilize the company’s developer toolkits and APIs to support new and old features across its platforms. The conference also coincides with Apple’s Swift Student Challenge, a coding competition for students. The deadline to apply for the challenge is April 19.
