The long-rumored 15-inch MacBook Air from Apple may soon be released, according to developer logs.
Reports suggest that Apple is currently testing a new 15-inch MacBook Air that will reportedly feature a processor “on par” with the current M2 chip. According to Bloomberg, the company has begun testing the device to ensure its compatibility with third-party App Store apps, which is a routine process before the release of any new device. Developer logs have revealed that the new MacBook Air will come with an eight-core CPU, 10-core GPU, and 8GB of RAM, and it is expected to ship with the M2 chipset rather than Apple’s next-generation chip. The machine was seen running macOS 14, which is set to be announced at WWDC 2023. The logs have also revealed that the 15-inch MacBook Air will have a display resolution equivalent to that of the 14-inch MacBook Pro.
It is currently unclear when Apple plans to release the new laptop, but Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has previously reported that it could be available between late spring and summer. While the M2 chipset is an exciting update, larger changes to the Mac are anticipated to arrive later with the release of an M3 chip.
